I have to admit that eversince I had graduated I've been unconsciously avoiding all the issues that I had actively thought about while I was the president of KSA back at CMU... Issues surounding identity crisis, Asian heritage, conflicts between "F.O.B.s" and American Born Asians, etc.. (I can't even really name them all anymore...) The fact that I was avoiding all this became clear as I heard the news about how there is an Asian Heritage Week @ CMU. Apparently it was first organized last year, but due to the lack of publicity and less-than-effective organization on the part of Student Affairs, it became a rather low-key event that just kinda flew by... This year bunch of Asian student organizations and Asian interest fraternities are involved in trying to make it a memorable one. The reason why this made me realize that I was trying not to think about Asian-related issues was that the moment I heard about the news I started to think about Asian-related issues... and it started to hurt my head... -.-;;; It's very hard for me to say from a distance what is really going on at my alma matar, so I opt to put on my naive kid's hat and assume that these events are signs of improvement over all issues surrouning Asians on campus...
