So, in an effort to maximize the efficient use of the given real estate for my DJ set up, I have decided to build a stand for my two CD players. Actually, it's really more of a stand for my final skratch set up in the future, but it serves both purposes perfectly well. :) Since buying a stand made for that very purpose would cost me like $300, I thought I'd buy the bear minimum parts necessary and build it on my own. Well, not really on my own, with much help from my colleagues who know stuff about industrial design ^^.

So I bought a QuickLok Z730, which will hold either my two CD 700s or my laptop computer, for $70. Given what the Z730 does for the price we thought it would be ridiculous to try and build that ourselves since that would just be too costly and time-consuming. I also bought two 1.5"x1/8 plain steel flat stock for $10. Jeff says that's all we need since we have other minor parts like nuts & bolts already lying around at our shop. We got ready, then cut the metal, bent it then bolted it on to the base of the stand so that there will be just enough room for the mixer to fit inside the bent metal. As you can see in the picture to the right, it is not fully done. We have to paint it, sand it, then attach two strips of metal (You see one in the picture, but it's not attached yet) to the base so that I can put my mixer on top of it as a weight. I'll post up the final product when it gets done!!!
