Just came across this interesting compilation... Kinda goes along with the "music inspired by" category of albums. In this case it would be music inspired by music videos clips that were made beforehand... I guess it's the opposite of how music videos are usually made.

I was almost going to just get in my Bora and drive to Cambridge to see DJ Krush perform... *SIGH* I have to meet with a client on Monday and I've promised to provide rides for snowboarders on Saturday, so I guess I can't... -.-;...

I feel like I'm a character in one of those old skool video games where you finally defeat the "end boss" only to find yourself back in stage 1 except with even stronger and faster enemies (they're usually of different colors, too). It's not that I don't like it, it's just that I'm once again reminded that everytime I feel that I have so much to learn with so little time, all I have to do is stop looking at the next task, and keep my eyes focused at the final task. Easier said than done, tho. ;) I love it anyway!

With my ears getting more and more sensitive to the quality of mastering tracks, I have to say that I was somewhat dissapointed at the final mastering quality of my latest work for Lunar Gala... As Erika tells me, people don't care about the sound quality... Well, the problem is that I do, and I strive to satisfy myself before anybody else. :P So my next step in my venture into the world of music is to analyze my favorite sounds... (i.e. finding the sound of a hihat with just the right amount of treble, the sound of a bass drum with just the right amount of bass, the sound of a car door slamming that gives me just the right resonance, etc... ) I hope I'll be able to at least get semi-good with mastering by the end of summer. ;) I don't have to be great, cuz I don't intend to become a recording engineer in any way... I just need to know exactly what kind of sound I want then I can just outsource the mastering.

I suppose my appetite for music is never ending... There's always so much to learn about everything. But as one of my good buddies (a gruaduate from Berklee) and I always agree, I will never lose focus on the music in its entirety. In the end music is art, not science. ;)

Pleasure to my ears is pleasure to my soul. - dJsLiM -

Pearl Jam is coming to the burgh. I wonder if the reason why the ticket price is fixed for all seats is an outcome of their original battle with Ticketmaster... Well, at any rate, I ain't gonna miss this one!! :)

I'm not sure if it has really hit me yet... that LG is over. What did I say? I told you I was gonna do just fine. :) The remix has again been showcased with my seal of approval, and all my babies (^^) have breathed life into the music at LG 2003. We all kicked some major arse that night. I cannot be more proud of everyone. I have poured all my energy into the e-mails sent to everyone involved, I have no more words to share with you! :) Stay tuned, and I'll upload the mix soon.

Caro sent me this link. I have to say, if the turtable becomes accepted as a musical instrument at a renowned conservatory such as Berklee College of Music, this could be a really huge step for DJs... This is kinda like how many professional game programmers want to be called "Artists". Ok, maybe that gives it a negative twist, but many DJs around the world want to be recognized as artists in their own right, and having their main instrument get a seal of approval from a body of musicians would certainly help. Now this gets more interesting as I forsee the refueling of the debate between CD scratchers and Vinyl Scratchers... Ha ha ha!

Had a major breakthrough today... Ha ha! My trance hymen has been ripped away... Uhm, no you got the wrong idea, man... I mean, I've stabbed a first attemp at a trance track today... So my "production hymen", I suppose... Well, it was to please Sam's urge to make his choreography fit to the theme of "buildup and contrast"... Man, don't I do everything to please you, Sam! :P

It's funny how this "Lunar Gala" thing has taken over my life (well, only during special time of the year, but nonetheless) for the past 4 years... I mean, it really doesn't have ANYTHING to do with Lunar Gala...It's the production of our lil bit... Working on music that's to be remixed specially for choreography, and working with a bunch of dedicated and passionate individuals... Those things are what drive me every year... As I approach the end of the semester my mind is still set to make this year my last, and I have to stop and think... "Will I ever be able to feel the same feelings again?" Food for thought...

Man, so I went to watch "Chicago" last night with cubbie... a broadway musical I always wanted to see that I finally got to a hollywood adaption of... All I can say is "DAMN"! Good choreography! Good music! Just good! good! good! I love it! I love it! I love it!!!!!!! *SIGH* When will I be able to make music that so closely complements the choreography like the ones showcased for the routines in Chicago... DJs have so much to learn from broadway musical productions!!!! Awwwwwwwwww yeah!!!!!
